The Cheese Store of San Diego believes in supporting the hardworking cheese makers and sharing their fine artisan cheeses to San Diego residents and visitors in a friendly and educational atmosphere.  Our cheese is cut-to-order to ensure the freshest cheese experience possible. We encourage our customers to work with our knowledgable cheesemongers and taste cheeses before purchasing to find the perfect match for your palate.  Our pairing and pantry items are carefully sourced and come from small batch producers and are hand crafted with the highest quality of local ingredients.

Our mission is to create a space that brings neighbors and strangers together to celebrate the beauty of cheese.

Marci + Aaron

We were born and raised in San Diego only 12 miles apart, but it wasn’t until 2011 when we met. We quickly discovered we both were raised in families were social events and holidays revolved around amazing food. While traveling we always sought out the small local specialty food stores and cheese shops, which became the inspiratin for us to do something similar in San Diego. We fell in love and decided we wanted to share our love and passion for food, family, and cheese with our community. We began selling cheese in 2012 at farmers markets in San Diego, all with the goal to eventually open up a cheese store with a small bistro. In June 2014, we signed a lease for our store and were married that same month.

Marci Flores, Founder

I have a background in Business, Retail and Merchandise Marketing.  For the past 10 years I have been involved in running my family’s active wear and promotional items company.  Food has always been my passion. I started a food blog (To Dine For San Diego) in January 2010 and used the blog for an inspirational outlet where I wrote about inspiring recipes, restaurant reviews, culinary events and topics. My blog showcased my own food photography and was a resource for local San Diegan foodies. The blog help me discover the path I wanted to pursue with food. Cheese was and is the answer!

 I have experience in catering for private dinner parties. In addition, I completed an intensive cheese course at The Cheese School of San Francisco. In 2012, I auditioned for the television show Master Chef and was asked to come to LA for final auditions (thanks to my mac & cheese); however, I passed on the opportunity for the final round because my goal was already set to open up The Cheese Store of San Diego.  

 I love to be active and dancing on the spin bike is my preferred exercise. My favorite things: frisbee sessions on the beach with our dog Louis while Aaron surfs; A warm chocolate croissant; Favorite cheeses are Challerhocker & Harbison; A nice bold smoky glass of Cabernet; Traveling to places I have always dreamed of going with my husband; Oh, and baby goats!
